Biomolecular and Metabolic Engineering Print Print   Email Email

Biomolecular and Metabolic Engineering is a multidisciplinary approach to understand the interactions between biological macromolecules and the application of that information to manipulate complex biosynthetic pathways for enhanced production of metabolites, novel biomaterials and proteins of therapeutic and industrial value.

Specific faculty research topics include assembly of bio-molecules to patterned surfaces (Bentley, Payne); biosensors (Bentley); biopolymer hydrogels (Payne); chitosan-based industrial polymers (Payne); novel methods for production of therapeutic and industrial proteins (Bentley); quorum sensing in fermentation (Bentley); virus templates for nanocircuit construction (Culver).
