Marine Functional Genomics Print Print   Email Email

Studying the dynamic nature of gene function in order to characterize the biochemical and physiological adaptations of marine organisms.

This program focuses on the development and use of novel tools and approaches to understand the biochemistry, physiology and phylogeny of marine organisms. Developing an integrated approach with sequencing, bioinformatic, transcriptional, proteomics and phylogenetic analysis, allows rapid progress in gene discovery, and the applications of these findings to generate new scientific findings and intellectual property.

Program areas:

---- Bioinformatics (Robb , Maeder, DasSarma, Sowers)
---- Prokaryote/Extremophile functional genomics
(Robb, DasSarma, Maeder , Sowers, Jagus )
---- Eukaryote functional genomics (Hansen)
---- Bio-Analytical Services Laboratory (BASLab )
