scientistUMBI is Maryland's premier biotechnology institute with expertise in human health, the marine environment, agriculture, protein engineering and structural and systems biology. In pursuit of our mission to provide an exceptional environment for specialized training and to mentor tomorrow's biotechnology workforce, we now invite students to participate in semester-long internships at one of our four research Centers. The UMBI internship programs are immersion experiences that provide students the opportunity to learn cutting-edge techniques from our internationally renowned faculty researchers and to use our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. dnaWho is eligible?
Currently enrolled high school or college students who have a solid academic preparation in the life sciences.

When are internships available?
Fall, spring and summer sessions are offered.

How long do internships last?
Twelve weeks, with a minimum of 75 hours to complete.

What will I be doing as a UMBI intern?
Interns will work in the lab with a UMBI scientist performing a guided scientific investigation.

Can I earn credit for a UMBI internship?
Credit may be available, depending on your school's requirements. Visit your school guidance office or registration office to learn more.

Where are internships available?
On site at the four Centers of UMBI: The Center of Marine Biotechnology (COMB) in Baltimore, Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB) in Rockville, Center for Biosystems Research (CBR) in College Park and Rockville and the Medical Biotechnology Center (MBC) in Baltimore.
