The Office of Research and Development promotes UMBI's mission to conduct collaborative research among our research centers and investigators at other institutions by assisting with collaborative agreements and joint financial support of research. UMBI faculty conduct research in key areas of biotechnology, make fundamental discoveries, generate innovative solutions to practical problems, and develop new technologies for commercial application.
Our investigator-driven research programs are broadly recognized, and diverse, ranging from the study of organisms that thrive in extreme environments, to those that live in the Chesapeake Bay, and those that cause plant, animal and human diseases.
