The Center of Marine Biotechnology, in Baltimore, Maryland,
offers students an exciting place to pursue graduate education, with especial
emphasis on the microbiology of extremophiles. Students can enter the graduate
program in the DasSarma laboratory
through either of two programs, the Graduate Program in Life Sciences (GPILS)
at the University of Maryland-Baltimore, or the Marine, Estuarine, and
Environmental Sciences (MEES) graduate program at the University of
